In Germany, the decline in milk deliveries at the beginning of August, as a result of the European heat wave, became significantly larger.

According to ZMB (the Central milk market reporting) with 583,587 tons delivered, 2.8% less milk was delivered in the first week of August than in the previous week.

For the first time in the current year, less milk was recorded than in the same week of the previous year, with the deficit standing at 1.1%. Due to the cooling in the last part of August, the heat stress for the dairy cows has diminished, so that milk quantities have stabilised again.

In the second week of August, the availability of raw milk was severely limited in Germany. This led to a significant increase in prices for industrial cream and skimmed milk concentrate. The increase continued in the last part of the month.
