World Dairy Summit day three round-up

Day three of the World Dairy Summit 2018 saw four parallel conferences held on food safety, environment, ICT smart farm and marketing.

The food safety conference featured talks on practical management for the safety of dairy foods, while the conference on environment focused on sustainable dairy and environmental issues.

The conference on ICT smart farm examined the impact of the Internet of Things, big data and bio-sensors to enhance farming technology and efficiency. The marketing conference looked at food trends, and the challenges and opportunities for dairy worldwide.

In the evening, the IDF celebrated dairy excellence by recognising four distinguished dairy experts from IDF member countries for their work in advancing scientific knowledge of the global dairy sector.

Jean François Boudier was bestowed the IDF Award 2018 for his outstanding contribution to progress in dairying worldwide.

The IDF Prize of Excellence 2018 went to Dr Jaap Evers for his outstanding contribution to the IDF Work Programme.

Two notable dairy experts were honoured with the IDF Prize of Recognition for their dedication to the IDF: Olav Østerås, chair of the Standing Committee on Animal Health and Welfare (SCAHW), was acknowledged for his outstanding leadership; and Jean-Marc Delort was recognized for his outstanding contribution as chair of the Science and Programme Coordination Committee.
