Germany’s Meggle dairy has sold its Belje Plus production subsidiary to the Croatian Fortenova Group. Belje Plus is expected to continue to purchase raw materials from the current Meggle milk producers.
“We are fully aware of the importance of maintaining milk production in Osijek. We are happy that the new owner ensures and will continue this continuity. Over the years Meggle has been a responsible employer and reliable business partner. The conclusion of the agreement with the Fortenova Group shows that we have behaved in the same way during the restructuring process and will continue to work according to the same principles in the future,” explains Matthias Oettel, CEO of the Meggle Group.
Fortenova Group already accounts for around 10% of the total milk quantity produced in Croatia, which is around 5% of the local needs. Most of the milk produced at Belje is used for the production of ABC cheese, with its annual production currently at the level of 3,700 tonnes, while plans have been developed for the significant expansion of its portfolio, the company says.
