Sugar reduced in Germany’s dairy products
Germany’s dairies have taken up the goal of sugar reduction with children especially in mind, says the German milk industry association (MIV). Monitoring by the MRI (Max Rubner Institute) proves that the dairy industry is on the right track and has made considerable sugar reduction in various products in recent years.
Contributions by the dairy industry have already been more than fulfilled, according to the MIV and now the continuation is to get the consumer’s acceptance. The strategy runs until 2025.
Based on the amount of product sold in 2019, the following amounts of sugar were saved compared to 2016: approximately 3,000 tons of sugar for fruit yogurt and approximately 2,200 tons of sugar for fruit quark.
