Mengniu and Ecolean promote sustainability

Mengniu Dairy and packager Ecolean have joined hands to initiate a Sustainability Awareness initiative to the community of Xinjiang, China.

The scheme plans to shine a light on the packaging’s ability to significantly reduce food waste from the source in the dairy industry; and at the same time, launches a series of consumer activities such as “Saving Hero” interactive games, as well as a special, easy-access collection area for post-consumed Ecolean packages. The collected packages are being recycled. It also aims to guide consumers to form new habits promoting less waste.

The “no waste” public benefit activity introduced by Mengniu Dairy in Xinjiang has a long duration and wide coverage, integrating fun activities, creative interaction, parent-child games and promoting a saving spirit, and will certainly attract the attention and participation of many consumers.

The consumer activities began on 5 December at Jingkai Wanda Plaza in Urumqi, Xinjiang, and CR Vanguard Kashi West Road Store, and run through 27 December. At the event site, Mengniu customised interactive games involving The Saving Hero are being hosted to attract younger consumers’ engagement.

In addition, there is an extensive collecting and recycling activity of post-consumed Ecolean packages on the site. During the programme users are, for one package of Mengniu Ecolean yogurt, collecting and handing in ten empty Mengniu Ecolean packages.
