Meggle Group acquires Stegmann

Meggle Group, based in Wasserburg am Inn, has taken over the Stegmann Emmentaler Käsereien in Kempten. Both are located in Bavaria in Germany. Käserei Stegmann recently achieved sales of around €120 million and was formerly part of the French dairy cooperative, the Sodiaal Group.

“With Meggle and Stegmann, two Bavarian companies with a successful company history, spanning decades are coming together. We will bundle our competencies, make investments and use the great potential. Our common mentality and the cultural proximity to the Allgäu are a decisive advantage, as is the historical connection between Meggle and cheese,” explains Matthias Oettel, CEO of the Meggle Group.

Meggle has already intensified its efforts in the cheese area over the past few months. A grainy cream cheese was successfully launched in 2020, and Meggle Grilltaler will go on sale this spring.
