Cremo shuts some Swiss production
Swiss milk processor Cremo has ceased production at its Steffisburg location. The dairy company will concentrate on its other locations in the future, so that the company’s competitiveness will be strengthened and its existence secured, it says.
“Around 30 employees are likely to be affected. We will accompany them and support them in their search for a new job,” says Alexandre Cotting, chairman of the board of directors of Cremo. The employees of the ‘Petit Crémier’ distribution platform, which is also located on the factory premises, are not affected by the closure. The platform, which belongs to Cremo, supplies restaurants, caterers and grocery stores with a wide range of dairy products. A new, yet to be determined location will allow ‘Petit Crémier’ to continue business activities in the Thun region.
Cremo intends to place the future use and development of the plant area in the hands of regional players, taking into account the interests of the Steffisburg community.
