Shares slump as news of crisis breaks
The stock market has not escaped the effects of the foot and mouth crisis. On Monday, analysts reported a loss of confidence among investors in dairy stocks, although if that was the case then it was the UK’s biggest processor, Dairy Crest, which bore the brunt of this.
The company saw 8% knocked off the value of its shares in trading, while prices for rivals Express Dairies and Robert Wiseman Dairies were left more or less unaffected.
Nobody from Dairy Crest was available to comment.
