Glanbia Nutritionals appoints new director of premix

Glanbia Nutritionals has announced its new director of premix, Michael Hofstätter, who will lead the development and implementation of premix and functionally optimised nutrient strategies for the company in EMEA.

Michael has been a key member of the Glanbia Nutritionals team since February 2014, previously operating as the plant manager of its Orsingen facility. Heading up a team of 130 colleagues, Michael led production and oversaw warehouse processes, alongside a recent £6m upgrade of the plant.

Working in a diverse range of departments has left Michael with a deep understanding of Glanbia Nutritionals’ global offering to food and drink brands. While in the Quality Assurance (QA) department, he was responsible for analysing risks and preventing hazards on production lines.

In his new role, Michael will define product positioning and focus, working alongside colleagues in Sales, Finance, Customer Service, Procurement, Marketing, Operations, Quality and Research & Development (R&D) to drive Glanbia Nutritionals’ business performance.

On his appointment, Hofstätter said:“I’m excited to continue making an impact by developing a premix strategy to drive commercial success for the company. Having worked with global customers for seven years it has taught me to be open-minded, having dealt with diverse cultures and a huge variety of food, drink and supplement businesses.”

Formerly a brewer, Michael is passionate about delivering nutritional ingredients which will ultimately improve the physical and mental wellbeing of consumers. He added that working in a purpose-driven role to offer solutions to those who have deficiencies and specific health conditions, as well as increasingly health-conscious consumers, drives his desire to succeed.

Anne Brown, senior vice president of Product Strategy, Bioactives and Premix, added: “Michael’s broad expertise and knowledge of the premix landscape, alongside his experience of Glanbia Nutritionals’ multi-faceted operation, is invaluable to achieving our strategic goals.

“Premix is a growing sector, projected to register a CAGR of 8.5% by 2026 in Europe. We intend to be at the forefront of the industry, developing solutions that meet the constantly evolving needs of our customers across the broad spectrum of specialty, sports and lifestyle nutrition.”

Glanbia Nutritionals is the number two global producer of premixes in the world. Its proteins, custom premix solutions, bioactive ingredients, plant-based solutions and micronutrients are sold in over 130 countries worldwide.
