Mars and northern German dairy Rheingold Molkerei have teamed up to produce a confectionery-based dairy dessert product named after the well known Mars product Bounty.
The product consists of a twin-pot pack containing 100g of cream yogurt (10% fat) and 20g of coconut/chocolate mix. Rheingold hints that this could be just the first in a line of confectionery-dairy dessert items for the booming children’s market. Germany is to be the test area and Britain is being considered as a possible export market.
Because of the high degree of recognition enjoyed by Bounty, the new product is expected to be popular immediately. Based on this prediction, the product has been placed in a premium price category at between 42 and 45p (0.68-0.73 euros) per unit.
