Müller provides ‘smell rehab box’ for employees

It has been confirmed by numerous reports from those affected, that Covid-19 viruses attack the olfactory cells in the nasal mucosa. In many cases, this is the cause of smell and taste disorders in people.

The Theo Müller Group now has made the ‘Corona Rehab Box’ available for its 31,700 employees. With the box, an in-house development by the sensory department, employees can train their sense of taste and smell and thus contribute to the long-term recovery from sensory disorders after a Covid-19 infection.

“In product development, we work according to the motto ‘Adding a taste to life’. Our goal is to bring the best tasting products to market. Colleagues without a sense of taste were therefore simply not an option for us as a sensory team. That’s how this idea came about,” says Rebecca Richter, who, as head of sensory insights in the area of research and development at the Theo Müller Group, deals with taste every day.

The box contains a set of aroma tubes, taste strips and other materials, which enable targeted, practical training of smell, taste and mouthfeel. In addition, the box provides facts worth knowing and simple additional exercises for everyday life.

Stefan Müller, chairman of the supervisory board of the Theo Müller Group, is enthusiastic about the initiative: “This is another excellent example that the motto ‘much more than you think’, which we use to recruit new employees: is authentic. Not only do we encourage our employees to be creative outside of their day-to-day work, we also encourage good ideas. And the Corona Rehab Box is definitely a good and very sensible idea, which we are already thinking further about together with regard to other target groups and possible uses.”
