Cap maker comes to China

Portola Packaging has announced plans to open a new plant in Shanghai, China, in a joint venture with a local company.
The fully automated 2,787m2 facility will operate 24 hour production runs, seven days a week. Completion is anticipated by March next year.
Products will be shipped both domestically and throughout Asia. Output is expected to improve Portola’s competitive status in the China and Asia Pacific markets.
The company manufactures tamper-evident plastic closures, equipment and bottles for the dairy and other industries.
