German milk back in Danish stores
For the first time in decades, fresh milk products from a German dairy have been listed by a major Danish retail outlet.
This reversal of the usual trade flow between the two countries involves the northern German co-operative Bremerland-Nordheide and the shipment of yogurts and cream products to the second-largest Danish supermarket chain, Dansk Supermarked.
The deal marks a notable change in Danish retailing, since the German goods are being sold under the supermarket’s own Engholm label. Up until now, the main Danish dairy concerns have successfully enforced a policy of insisting that all goods supplied be only under official dairy labels.
