The day of judging, knowledge and sampling

More than 5,000 cheeses are expected to be judged on 27 June, when the International Cheese & Dairy Expo opens for business at Staffordshire County Showground in the UK. With companies such as Chr Hansen sponsoring the Supreme Champion (last year, Shropshire Blue from Long Clawson Dairy took  the top spot) and AB Dairy sponsoring the stage where both the awards will be given and the Expo’s seminars will be hosted at, it promises to be a day full of networking, information and achievement overall.

For the show, the networking lunch starting at 12:30pm also promises to be eventful and social. Sponsored by Ecolab, it will be an opportunity for visitors to meet up and network, as well as enjoy a buffet lunch.

Our seminars at the centre stage in the halls and will begin at 9:30 with Mark Wright from Ecolab first up. Among the exhibitors will be Yorkshire Dama, whose founders, Razan Alsous and Raghid Sandouk, were recently seen on Channel 4’s show, Aldi’s next Big Thing. They came ahead of several other contestants to win a contract to supplying 400,000-pieces of their delicious Hello Mi Rolls, which are rolls of halloumi cheese wrapped in pastry for the supermarket. Having tried them myself, I think Aldi customers will really enjoy those. Yorkshire Dama is also increasing its staff and turns their five employees into a 16 person production line. Exciting times, so do come along and say hello to them and try their delicious cheese. It will be one of many wonderful samples on offer on the day. See you there.
