The UK’s Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) at last has the Mono- polies & Mergers Commission’s findings following its enquiry into the supply of raw milk in England and Wales At time of going to press, the report had not been made public. There was speculation that the Commission’s comments might not be published until after the new Welsh Assembly elections in May. A report in London’s Evening Standard newspaper suggested the document might upset marginal farmers in Wales.
A DTI spokesman refused to be drawn either on this matter or on when the inquiry’s findings would be made public.
