Wyke Farms, the UK’s largest independent cheese producers and producers of renewable energy, today reveal new branding for their core range of premium cheddar and butter across all packaging in both retail and catering. The new identity extends across all marketing communications, website and social media and reaffirms the company’s position as a premium quality, values-led, Global reaching, English brand.

The exciting rebrand showcases the company’s rich heritage while positioning it for future growth in both domestic and international markets. At the heart of the new look is a striking new logo that reaffirms Wykes’ leading global position as ‘England’s Cheddar Makers’ and succinctly communicates the company’s proud English heritage and expertise in cheddar production. It also includes the founding date ‘1861’ highlighting their long-standing tradition of cheese-making excellence as well as including their favourable location ‘Champflower, Somerset’.

The new identity proudly presents the company’s dedication to doing things the right way with visual references to the values that differentiate the brand, including their personal pride surrounding cheesemaking and English farming traditions, as well as their love of nature and strong family tradition. The new brand icons included on the new pack, website and marketing material each represent brand stories that bring these values to life:

  • The Kingfisher – often spotted along the banks of the River Brue and symbolises Wykes’ deep and lifelong connection to nature.
  • The Wyvern – has been taken from the crest of Somerset to represent ‘home’ and their pride around their English cheesemaking traditions.
  • The Fox – another symbol of the company’s love of nature in all its forms.
  • The Ferret – referencing the infamous family story of how Tom Clothier pretended to borrow a ferret from Ivy’s brother to see her!

Rich Clothier, managing director and third generation family member at Wyke Farms, says: “The core values that underpin everything we do and that have been passed down through the generations of my family will never change, but the way in which we communicate them has been updated and we are proud to reveal our new identity to communicate what really matters to us in a better way.”

The Wyke Cheddar Makers brand identity has been undertaken by leading brand, design and marketing consultants, Big Fish: big fish – brand, design and marketing consultancy and builds upon the successful redesign and reposition of the Ivy’s Reserve brand in 2021.

Wyke Farms’ cheese and butter is made with the milk from their cows grazing the lush pastures of the Mendip Hills in the centre of the Cheddar making region in Somerset and family run farms within a 30-mile radius of the dairy.
