UK kerbside collection increases for TetraPak
Kerbside collections in the UK have increased to 31% of local councils for Tetra Pak, which has said it is committed to developing aseptic carton reprocessing in the country. However, the Swedish packaging giant is still in consultation on the closure of its UK manufacturing facility in Wrexham. Around 31% of councils now operate that type of collections, compared to 20% at the end of 2009. A total of 87% of councils operate bring back facilities. The cartons are current shipped to Sweden for reprocessing but it has been reported that the firm plans to develop capacity in the UK in the next 18 months.
