Franklin Foods, a cream cheese maker based in Vermont, US, is set to shut down at the end of July, according to the St Albans Messenger website (www.samessenger.com). The company, established in 1899, was purchased in 2017 by the German cheese maker, Hochland Group, and employs around 100 people.
However, at the end of 2025, Hochland sold the concern to Schreiber Foods, citing a lack of profitability in the US market. A sister location in Arizona has also been put on notice as to its closure, affecting another 83 jobs, the website reports.
