On June 17–18, SIGEP China brought Italian gelato expertise to Shanghai, bringing together institutions, industry professionals, media and students for two days of networking, education and discussions on the future of the sector.

The opening day welcomed institutional representatives, media and key players from the Chinese market. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to growth and investment opportunities, with dedicated sessions for professionals from the Horeca, Bakery and Foodservice sectors.

On the second day, PICH School hosted theoretical lessons and hands-on workshops, where students explored the history of Italian gelato, production techniques and the differences between artisanal, soft-serve and industrial gelato. Speakers included Fabio De Cillis (ITA – Italian Trade Agency), Achille Sassoli (ACOMAG), Ludovico Santasilia (Unione Italiana Food Gruppo Prodotti per Gelato) and Sergio Colalucci, president of the Gelato World Cup.

SIGEP China is part of SIGEP’s international strategy to promote Italian excellence across the Gelato, Pastry & Chocolate, Coffee, Bakery and Pizza sectors worldwide.
Following the successful debut of SIGEP USA in Las Vegas, the Shanghai roadshow—organized in partnership with ITA – Italian Trade Agency, Unione Italiana Food Gruppo Prodotti per Gelato, ACOMAG and Gelato World Cup—further reinforces the global vision of the SIGEP brand.

“Through our international roadshows, we continue to create opportunities for businesses, professionals and strategic markets to connect, while promoting the excellence of Italian artisanal gelato around the world.” said Ilaria Cicero, global exhibition director, Food & Beverage Division, Italian Exhibition Group.
