Milky Mist Dairy Food has commissioned a new Skyr and Greek yogurt manufacturing plant at its Perundurai facility in Tamil Nadu, India. The unit uses ultrafiltration technology to address rising demand for high-protein products, the company says.

The firm invested approximately ₹40 crore (€3.6 million) to establish the dedicated facility. Financing for the project came from a combination of internal accruals and proceeds from its initial public offering. Milky Mist was the first company in India to introduce ultrafiltration technology for manufacturing Skyr and Greek yogurt in 2022, responding early to consumers’ growing preference for high-protein nutrition, website skanx.trade reports.

The new plant adds a processing capacity of up to 150 tonnes per day. The company’s previous capacity was  20 tonnes per day since 2022. Annual demand for the category has grown by more than 50% since then, with rising demand for high-protein yogurts.
