FrieslandCampina to build R&D centre in the Netherlands
FrieslandCampina of the Netherlands is to build a new research and development centre on the campus of Wageningen UR (University and research centre). The centre will be a new building with research facilities, laboratories, pilot plant and offices. The plan is to occupy the new centre in the second half of 2012.
It had previously been announced that FrieslandCampina planned to concentrate most of its R&D operations in the Netherlands in Wageningen. Eventually, just over 350 people will be employed at FrieslandCampina in Wageningen. They will collaborate with local research centres and marketing departments in various markets in Europe, Asia, Africa and America (ingredients).
The new building will be constructed at the southern end of the Wageningen University campus, covering an area of around 15,000 square metres, and will include laboratory space, a pilot plant, a test bakery and space for general and technical support, along with office space. The new centre will also house a centre, where products can be tasted, smelled and touched.
FrieslandCampina will invest approximately EUR16 million in equipping and furnishing the new R&D centre.
