European Cheese Centre gains prominence
A super shop window for Europe’s huge variety of high quality cheeses is becoming a permanent centre for demonstrations, events and international seminars on cheeses, their qualities, how to serve them and their most important selling points. Naturally, cheeses can be bought as well at the expanding European Cheese Center (ECC) sited in north German Hanover. And there’s an opportunity for the non-trade visitor to learn more and to sample the wares, as well as plenty of opportunity for the usual clients: bulk buyers for retail outlets throughout Europe and the world.
Staged by one of Europe’s biggest cheese merchants, Ruwisch & Zuck, the ECC now features 1,700 different products comprising around 1000 cheeses for cutting and serving over the counter and some 700 varieties prepacked for self-service. Acclimatised storage area at the ECC covers 3800 square metres and the cheeses come from around 350 dairies in 20 countries.
A whole section of the display and demonstration area is devoted to organically produced cheeses. Britain is by no means left out and included in the imports from across the North Sea are English Cheddar and colourful White Stilton with Blueberries. For the big spenders who buy 40 kg and more, delivery throughout the European mainland is guaranteed within 48 hours.
