Leading Finnish dairy Valio is close to completing work on a 13,000 square metre production, storage and distribution centre for the Russian market at Ershovo, 40 km west of Moscow.

Temperature-controlled storage for dairy products will cover around 6,000 square metres at the site.
Valio processed cheese production (Viola wedges) along with its pre-packing has already started at the site with a target of 1,500 tonnes per year. Essential ingredients are delivered to the centre, which will have a distribution radius of 3,000 km, from Valio’s plants in Finland and include Emmental and butter. Valio also plans to market processed cheeses with ham and mushroom ingredients from its new Russian centre.
