German Frischli quark sales up by 32%
Quark is making waves as a creamy dairy dessert under the “Leckermoulchen” label from the Lower Saxony based dairy Frischli.
Sales of the fruit flavoured product soared by 32% in 2007 compared with the previous year with almost 53 million units sold. Flavours have been added continually to this winning line with 24 different tastes now available, standards such as strawberry or rhubarb being joined by exotic examples like papaya-lime or poppy seeds and marzipan. Frischli, with three plants processing over 660 million kg milk annually and a product range of 120 dairy items reckons that the flavoured quark from a dedicated new plant in the east of Germany now earn 20% of the dairy’s €375 million annual turnover.
Parallel to the quark lines, new products from Frischli aimed at the health and fitness sector are appearing this summer under the “Wellness” label. “Wellness” is a 125 g portion dairy dessert available in chocolate or vanilla flavours. Energy content is just 54 kcal/100g for the former and 62 kcal for the latter flavour. In both cases Frischli has kept fat content at below 0.1% per 100g. Five kilogram catering pots of each flavour are also available.
