Nordmilch consolidates position
Co-operative dairy Nordmilch has consolidated its position as Germany’s largest milk processor with a throughput of 4.1 billion kg during 2007 and a 21% increase in annual turnover at €2.3 billion.
Nordmilch’s continuing efforts to capture more of both export and industrial markets for its dairy products are succeeding beyond all predictions, according to Nordmilch chairman of the board Josef Schwaiger. He reports that 30% of turnover is earned abroad, a constant annual figure over the last two years. Increasing slightly from year to year is the national and international industrial/catering market for Nordmilch products, particularly cheese, with 48% of 2007 turnover earned by this sector, This sector is expected to bring even more profit in 2008, partly as fruit of investment by the co-op towards increasing cheese production capacity by 20%.
