New European dairy giant to be formed

European milk processing should have a new giant player by December when three French coops, Coopagri Bretagne, Even and Terrena join forces to form a dairy handling 1.5 billion kg milk annually which puts it in third place within the French processor league behind Lactalis and Sodiaal.

The monopolies commission still have to give its blessing to the proposed union but the coops themselves are confident of the go-ahead by the end of the year.
