Full fusion for Bayernland and Domspitz
Almost two years after signing a partnership agreement with the aim of promoting synergies in marketing the German dairy cooperatives Domspitz from Regensburg in lower Bavaria and Bayernland, Nornberg have announced plans for a full fusion.
The move, to take effect in June pending approval of the respective AGMs and the monopolies commission, will form a 460 million kg dairy. Domspitz (turnover €160 m) is best known for its large output of pasteurised and UHT drinking milks with yogurts, dairy desserts and Italian-style cheeses Rigatello, Caciotta and mozzarella. Bayernland produces an all-round 200,000 t palette of products annually including 87,000 t of cheese. Bayernland annual turnover is around €700m, 12% of which is earned from worldwide cheese exports.
