Austria’s fifth-largest dairy, Alpenmilch Salzburg, is also a partner in the Käsehof cheese production cooperative, which processes around 52 million kg milk (60% organically produced) annually and markets it mainly as cheese and yogurts with the distinctive Käsehof polkadot red cow logo.

Exports increase steadily, according to the cooperative, and this development is the motor driving the amalgamation of the coop’s current four different plants into a single ultra-modern production, maturing and packing plant in Lamprechtshausen near Salzburg.

Building is to begin this year by the cooperative which reported a €60.5 m turnover last year with some 60% of this earned from foreign sales of Käsehof cheeses.
