Volac’s official opening of its new headquarters in Orwell, Cambridgeshire, in the UK was attended by by the Minister for Agriculture and Food, the Jim Paice MP. James Neville, MDat Volac, provided an insight into the growth in global demand for nutritional whey products, driven by both health trends in the developed world, and rising incomes and awareness of the benefits of dairy products in the emerging world. “Specifically, this has manifested itself in rising global demand for infant formula and the nutritional characteristics of whey being more widely utilised in the consumer lifestyle category – for example, in snack bars as well as protein shakes”, he says. “At Volac, we of course welcome this increase in demand for whey products, as it not only underlines our ambition to further grow and invest – allowing us to continue to deliver the high performance products that our customers rely on – but also enables us to continue to add value for our partners and throughout the dairy supply chain. Ultimately we want to see the whole industry thrive and believe it is only by taking this ambitious, sustainable and collaborative approach that we, and other companies involved in dairy, will achieve the full potential of our people, business and the wider dairy industry – particularly in these turbulent times.”

The development at Volac’s headquarters has been developed for a light, open and engaging environment for employees. It also includes a fitness suite with showers, high-tech training and meeting facilities, the company says.
