Quebec cheesemakers clean up in contest
Quebec cheeses have won a record 31 prizes in North Americas largest annual contest, staged by the American Cheese Society.
The region made a complete sweep of prizes in the brie category, came both first and second with flavoured feta, and first and third with triple creme.
This years contest was the largest in the societys history, with a record 1,208 entries from 30 US states and Canada.
A big push to vary Quebec cheese-making came after Britain joined the European Common Market, and the Commonwealth stopped ordering so much Quebec cheddar.
