The number of milk producers in England and Wales has fallen below the 13,000 mark in April according to DHI figures.

Over the year to April 2007 the number of dairy producers in England and Wales has fallen by 6.7% – equivalent to 935 dairy farmers leaving the industry. 769 of these were farming in England with the remaining 166 leaving the Welsh industry.
