A rethink of the farming life in Somerset

One of the issues in farming globally is that of getting young people interested in a job on the farm. However, one British council has seen a way to show that farming isn’t just about livestock, and the support roles involved may be more diverse than people would think – everything from accountacy to foot care. The Somerset farming community is promoting careers in dairy with a new website and accompanying videos. The promotional film is well worth a look, according to Tim Harrap of Lye Cross Farm. The campaign is being supported by the county council along with others including Bakers Cheddar, Lye Cross Farm, Bridgwater College and the National Farmers Union. Social media is also being used to promote this worthy effort.
