Wimm-Bill-Dann goes west

Russia’s biggest dairy business, Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods (WBDF) has bought a majority share in the west Siberian dairy Nazarovskoe Milk

This adds one more plant to the market leader’s previous total of 24 plants in Russia. Most of Nazarovskoe’s 110,000 tonnes per year output so far has been in long-life products such as milk powder, condensed and evaporated milks. Market watchers say the purchase of the 60-year-old business by WBDF is primarily to give the company presence in western Siberia in a region more than 800 km away from the WBDF Siberian headquarters.
WBDF has posted results for the first six months of 2005 that show a 17.5% increase in turnover ,compared with the same period of 2004 at US$681.7 (
