Milk genes mission

Scientists around the world are gathering together to build databanks containing the genes from milk, according to reports from the IDF World Dairy Summit.

Their aims include understanding the role of milk in human health and how milk contributes to preventing disease.
Nutrition and genetics experts met at the recent IDF World Dairy Summit in Vancouver to discuss how the genetic material responsible for milk production could hold the key to finding out about the nutritional benefits of milk.
Bruce German, a professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology at UC Davis College of Agriculture and Environmental Science, says:
