Cheese Friends buy Arla plant

Arla Foods has sold its production plant in Kisslegg-Zaisenhofen to the newly formed Kisslegg Cheese Friends. Arla Foods had closed the plant due to the massive price fall and competition in the international markets.
“We are pleased to have found a buyer that has acquired the location Kisslegg with the intention to continue to produce cheese there,” says Winfried Meier, who is responsible for Arla’s business in Germany.
The milk from Arla suppliers in Allgäu, which used to be been processed in Kißlegg, are now processed at the Bad Wörishofen, Sonthofen and Wertach plants.
The revival of the regional brand Allgäuland is currently on schedule, says Jörg van Loock, responsible for Arla sites in the Allgäu.
Under the brand, Arla makes drinking milk, butter and two cheeses. “We achieved first listings in retail and are currently conducting further discussions with our customers,” says van Loock.
