Chocolate butter is back

Chocolate butter was very popular in Eastern Europe in the 1980s and 1990s and thanks to Grafschaft Hoya Dairy from Asendorf in Lower Saxony, the product is now experiencing a renaissance there.
“This is an exciting new product for us,” says Heinrich Steinbeck, managing director of Molkerei Grafschaft Hoya.
“This is a real niche,” Andrej Volynec says, of the Lakomka fresh food factory, for whom the dairy produces the butter.
The process of finding suitable and certified production companies took a long time, Volynec says. “We have definitely contacted all butter companies in Germany,” he estimates.
Volynec is not just aiming for the Eastern European market. He states, “We also want to inspire German customers with our products.”
