Consumers view recombined products as inferior
USA – Consumers must be taught that recombined milk and milk products are not inferior to ‘traditional’ dairy products, according to speakers at a recent symposium.
Attendees at the 4th International Symposium on Recombined Milk and Milk Products also heard that the marketing of such products does in fact strengthen traditional milk consumption.
Wayne Sanderson, a director at the Australian co-op Murray Goulburn even said that under the proper conditions, recombined products could also help spur domestic milk production.
Regarding consumers’ view of these products as inferior, the industry must find a way to change it, according to speakers, while also continuing to promote milk’s nutritional benefits, develop new products and improve packaging and shelf-life.
