Final figures announced for German food exports in 2010 show the country earned 18% more from its dairy produce sales abroad compared with 2009. Milk and its products brought in about EUR7.5 billion in 2010, from which nearly half was earned by cheese. Cheese sales from Germany increased by 15.5% on a value basis over the period, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (BMELV) in Berlin. A fairly weak euro is helping 2011 dairy exports in the same upward direction, while returns for all agricultural production sold abroad are reckoned to be almost 10% up on 2010 so far.
