Iowa screens for mould
USA – Dairies in Iowa are to screen their incoming raw milk for the presence of the aflatoxin mould.
The mould appears in feed grains during drought conditions. The screening was implemented by Patty Judge, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, after some crops tested positive. Although there have been no problems reported with the raw milk supply the system will run for a month to ensure the products remain safe.
