Kerrygold celebrates 40 years
IRELAND – Irish dairy brand Kerrygold is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month.
The Irish Dairy Board created the brand after it formed in 1961. The board planned to build an international brand to market the Irish dairy industry.
Kerrygold first appeared on sale in the UK in Manchester in May 1962. It was the first time that Irish butter had been sold as a branded product – it had previously been exported as a bulk product.
Kerrygold is now Ireland’s largest exporter, with a turnover of over 2 billion euro. This year, the company plans to launch sliced and grated varieties of its Dubliner cheese and a new 500g pack of its Kerrygold Spreadable butter.
