Carlisle unveils new equipment for Barbers
UK – Cheese machinery manufacturer Carlisle Process Systems has announced that it is to supply new machinery to Somerset-based cheesemaker AJ & RJ Barber.
Carlisle, which recently changed its name from Wincanton, will supply Barber with two of the company’s cheese towers. It will also upgrade Barber’s existing equipment and replace its salting machine, conveyor belt and draining belt.
The upgrades will mean that Barber’s vats can produce 20 loads of cheese a day, compared with the current 16.
Carlsisle has been supplying cheesemaking equipment to Barber for over 10 years. It will start work on the upgrades immediately and expects to complete the upgrade of Barber’s factory in early 2003.
Barber’s produces around 10,000 tons of cheese a year, much of it for supermarket chain Sainsbury.
