Traditional cheese retailer sold
UK – Traditional British cheesemonger Paxton and Whitfield was sold last week to Queensquare Investments Limited.
The family owned firm, which supplies cheese to the Queen and Prince Charles, was started in 1797 and has shops in London, Bath and Stratford-Upon-Avon.
Commenting on the deal, Paxton and Whitfield managing director Arthur Cunynghame said that the company could now acquire “new skills, new support and the advantages which come with a fresh view”.
Andrew Brownsword, creator of ‘Forever Friends’ greetings cards, owns Queensquare Investments.
Brownsword said: “I hope to introduce many new people to the delights and quality of Paxton and Whitfield and I look forward to working with the current team to achieve this.”
