Austrian dairy SalzburgMilch has been taking measures to optimise its dairy production for plastic reduction and sustainability for over 10 years and the 100-ton mark has now been hit.

Several large projects have already been implemented, which have resulted in savings in consumption of water, gas and electricity. It has also received numerous awards, most recently the climate-friendly award of the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism.

SalzburgMilch has now saved 100 tons of plastic, since the introduction of the SalzburgMilch Premium line in 2017, and numerous plastic reduction projects.

“We were able to save 56% plastic by converting the yogurt, sour cream and whipped cream cups to cardboard-coated cups. Thanks to the new cheese slice packaging, it is even more,” Andreas Gasteiger, managing director of SalzburgMilch proudly reveals.

“We will not rest on this great result, but will take further measures to reduce the amount of plastic. We will soon be changing our straws for Alex and Lisa milk drinks to biodegradable straws.”
