Milk Marque denies break-up rumours
The UK’s largest dairy farmers’ co-operative, Milk Marque, has scotched speculation that it is on the verge of a voluntary break-up.
Reports in the Financial Times newspaper claimed Milk Marque was set to dismantle itself in order to pursue plans to expand as a processor following a marathon Competition Commission enquiry into UK raw milk supply (see DII 64(7)6).
However, a spokesperson for Milk Marque said restructuring was just one of several options the co-op was considering.
The Financial Times report claimed Milk Marque would announce the break-up during the European Dairy Event at Stoneleigh on 22 September.
