SIG has announced that, following an extensive global search, its board of directors has appointed Mikko Keto as the company’s chief executive officer. He is expected to join in the first half of 2026. Keto, a Finnish citizen, joins SIG from FLSmidth, a multinational engineering company providing equipment, systems and services to the global mining industry.

He came to FLSmidth in 2021 as president of the mining division prior to becoming group CEO in 2022. As CEO, he executed a comprehensive business transformation, including a financial and operational reset, portfolio optimsation involving both a major divestment and merger, as well as a global efficiency and cost-reduction programme. He doubled the value of FLSmidth during his tenure. Prior to joining FLSmidth, Keto spent over nine years at Metso Corporation, latterly serving as president, services and pumps.

Keto has a degree in M.Sc. (economics) from the Helsinki School of Economics. He will be based at SIG’s headquarters in Switzerland.

Ola Rollén, chair of the board of SIG, says, “I am delighted to welcome Mikko to the group as CEO. He brings an impressive track record of driving business and cultural transformations in engineering-led systems businesses. We are confident that he will guide SIG to release its growth and innovation potential. We believe that under his direction, we will build a simpler, leaner and more agile company that delivers enhanced value to all stakeholders. On behalf of the board, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Anne Erkens, our CFO, for stepping in as interim CEO during this transition period.”

Keto notes, “I am thrilled to be appointed CEO of SIG. The group has a high-quality business model, with engineering, innovation and sustainability at its core. I very much look forward to leading the company into its next chapter and building on its strong foundation.”
