The collaboration between Aetna Group and Mondi Group represents an example of how technological innovation and sustainability can integrate effectively into a real production context, the companies say.
The project was carried out at the Mondi Lembacel plant in Bétheniville, France, in Mondi Group’s European production network. This facility specialises in the production of paper bags, pinch bags and industrial bags.
Mondi Group is a global multinational in the paper-based packaging and kraft paper production sector. The group works in multiple industrial sectors, including manufacturing, e-commerce, food and retail.
Robopac, one of the main brand of Aetna Group, is the leader of the project through the installation of the Technoplat 3000 PWJ, an automatic station for wrapping pallets with paper reels. The technology uses 100% recyclable materials and ensures reliable load stabilisation. Key features include performance up to 750 pallets per reel without a change, the use of high-extensibility and high-strength paper for safe transport and an advanced control system with a touch screen and Cube Technology, which allows precise and optimised management of the wrapping process. The installation took place in December 2025.
“This partnership represents a key step to validate the machine’s performance and to check its efficiency under high-production conditions”, says Robopac’s management. Attention focused on key aspects such as process stability, operational efficiency, wrapping quality and the machine’s integration capacity within existing lines.
As highlighted by Julien Frachou, logistics manager at Mondi Lembacel, “The company has always aimed to anticipate market needs and implement solutions with a reduced environmental impact, in line with the MAP 2030 programme, which focuses on logistics, transport and product packaging.”
As a paper manufacturer, Mondi oriented its strategy towards paper-based solutions. Due to the collaboration with Aetna Group, it has introduced a technology capable of ensuring up to 10% material extension capacity using fully recyclable paper, while improving pallet stability, a critical element during transport phases.
Six months after installation, approximately 50% of the plant’s pallets are wrapped with paper, with the goal of reaching 80% within the next year. Plans are to continue the collaboration in the future, including further end-of-line solutions and automated transport systems.
