Hochwald has remained Germany’s sixth largest dairy in terms of turnover so far this year with a 5.6% boost for January to July returns to EUR557 million. Results in July look even better for the UHT product specialist, with sales increasing by a reported 17% which means the dairy is making a good recovery from a poor 2009 when turnover slumped by 15.5% on the year.
Hochwald makes its mark in the worldwide export of long-life dairy products from cheese to UHT milk drinks, coffee cream and condensed milk and has invested heavily in streamlined modern filling and packaging plant right in step with the increasing market and improving sales.
Farmers from Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and France delivered a total 1.981 billion kg in the last year. The main plant at Thalfang in the Rhineland Palatinate has been one of the main recipients of over EUR2 million investment in the last year. Hochwald management expect total milk processed by the group to top the two billion kilogram mark for the first time by the end of this year.
