Dakin adds new plant in effort to beat recession
Dakin Dairy Farms has added a new plant and is bottling some of its own milk in an effort to survive the economic downturn.
The milk has already been snapped up for sale by a couple of retail giants, Whole Foods Market and Sweetbay Supermarkets.
All 50,000 gallons of the American farm’s milk per week were previously shipped for processing in Miami. Four thousand gallons a week will stay on site and be sold under the Dakin brand.
Karen Dakin and her husband Jerry own the farm in Myakka City.
