Campina sells-off dairy drink brands

Two market leader brands in the Benelux long-life dairy drink sector are to change hands later this year as part of the European Commission stipulations for the merger between Campina and Royal Friesland Foods.

Belgian cooperative dairy INZA (a daughter of Belgium’s largest dairy, Milcobel) will take over the long-life yogurt brand Yogho! Yogho! and the long-life chocolate dairy drink Choco! Choco! from Royal FrieslandCampina.
The Dutch dairy agreed to sell the two brands as the European Commission felt they represented a too powerful market position in the dairy drinks sector within European, and particularly Benelux, countries.
The dairy drinks fit well into INZA’s range because the Antwerp-based Belgian dairy has long specialised in UHT milk, chocolate and yogurt drinks. INZA processes around 150m litres yearly.
Royal FrieslandCampina has, however, retained ownership of the brands for markets outside the EU.
