Dance of the Christmas cheeses

It was a delight to be at the Dairy Council’s Ceremony of the Christmas Cheeses this week. This annual event brings together the great and good of the British cheese industry with the Pensioners of The Royal Hospital, Chelsea. It was a great start to the festive season and a timely reminder of the efforts put forward on our behalf by the nation’s armed forces. The least we can do as an industry is provide them with a multitude of cheese. It is also a reminder that at this time of year, a large portion of cheese gets consumed in the festivities.

This year, Anton Du Beke and his dancing partner Erin Boag joined the event. For those outside the UK, these two star in the popular British television series, Strictly Come Dancing. Sandy Wilkie, chairman of the Dairy Council, reminded all that dairy becomes more important with age, not less important. Ditto exercise, so perhaps a bit of cheese with your waltz is just the ticket.
